Think of it as hosting a party at the Pub every day. The ideal Assistant Manager is present to support their team on the floor and host the party with their Guests. The Assistant Manager shows respect for their teammates, their Guests and the brand’s identity.
What you will do in this role:
- Ensure every Guest leaves happier than when they arrived
- Exemplify and encourage the Pub culture through effective leadership
- Assist in managing shift schedule and control labour costs to meet or exceed brand targets
- Assist General Manager in recruiting, interviewing and hiring new staff
- Oversee the strict application of Pub principles and standards to ensure teammates deliver the ultimate Guest experience
- Assist with the ongoing development of teammates, including ongoing feedback, coaching and Performance Reviews
- Ensure the Pub adheres to all legislative and government guidelines (i.e. proper safe food and beverage service, AGCO, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards, etc.)
- Adhere to Food Safety guidelines
- Oversee the seamless execution of Local and National Marketing programs
What we are looking for:
- You are passionate about food, beverage and guiding a team to deliver the perfect Guest experience
- You are a leader with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory experience in the Hospitality/ Food and Beverage industry; bonus points for previous training experience
- Superior business acumen, including an understanding of budgets and operating costs
- Excellent communication skills
- Bonus points for post-secondary education in Hospitality
- Understanding of fundamental training principles and adult learning techniques
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and direct others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Understanding of Pub culture and the ability to role model this behaviour for teammates
- Passion and enthusiasm for developing people and engaging with staff to create a fun atmosphere

The Publican – The Face of the Pub
Think of it as hosting a party at the pub every day. The Publican should be present during busy times to support their team on the floor and host the party with Guests: touching tables, socializing and helping out where necessary. Publican should be active and constantly evolving within their community, local restaurant marketing and creating long-term goals for the pub. The ideal Publican shows respect for their team, their guests and the brand identity. As the face of the pub, the Publican consistently communicates, gives positive and constructive feedback to their team and is willing to accept responsibility for the overall success of the business.
As a Publican, passion and enthusiasm for interacting with guests and engaging with staff to create a fun atmosphere are a must!
Responsibilities
- Pub financials and recommendations of action towards profit management, achievement of budgets, sales building and scheduling
- Ensure completion of accurate and timely periodic financial statements for restaurant with the corporate accountant
- Oversee hiring and the ongoing development of the Management team (ongoing feedback, coaching and Performance Reviews)
- Assist in recruitment for hiring new staff and final interviews
- Encourage and perpetuate the pub culture through effective leadership
- Oversee the execution of front line training and marketing programs
- Oversee the strict application of pub principles and standards to improve guest experience
- Ensure pub adheres to all legislative and government guidelines (i.e. proper safe food and beverage service, AGCO, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards, etc.)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years management experience working in a high-volume dining restaurant; previous management experience in a pub environment is a definite asset!
- Post-Secondary education, preferably in hospitality and/or business related field
- Strong business acumen, including an understanding of budgets and operating costs
- Extensive knowledge of pub operations, food and beverage
- Ability and commitment to deliver an authentic Irish Pub experience
- Demonstrate ability to motivate and direct others
- Understanding pub culture and the ability to transfer this into behavior for all employees
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Understands the pub guest across all day and night parts

The ideal Kitchen Manager thrives on working in a fast paced environment and has strong leadership and motivational skills. As a Kitchen Manager, your primary focus will be to oversee the execution of the brand menu and the restaurant kitchen operations according to brand standards. They should be present during busy times to support their team on the line and helping out where necessary. The Kitchen Manager shows respect for all team members in the pub, their guests and the brand identity.

Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory, par levels, food and culinary labour costs
- Prepare culinary team schedules to meet the needs of the pub and budget guidelines
- Recruit, interview and hire new staff
- Oversee training and development of the kitchen team, ensuring constant improvement in culinary skills
- Ensure consistency of quality, portion control and plated presentation
- Ensure recipe adherence in kitchen execution of all products served
- Oversee adherence to legislative and food handling requirements
- Implement and adhere to the Health and Safety policies and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Program (i.e. proper safe food service, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards, etc.)
- Daily review of QSA logbook and to address concerns immediately
- Liaison with the Training Manager, oversee training and development of BOH team, completion of eLearning, hiring and improved culinary skills
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years management experience working in a high-volume casual dining restaurant
- Post-secondary education in culinary, hospitality and/or business related field an asset
- Working towards Red Seal
- Food Safety Certification
- Strong business acumen, including an understanding of budgets and operating costs
- Excellent knowledge of food, food handling and preparation
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and direct others
